ravenna_c_tan	3:25p	What you need to know about Hikaru no Go before reading my fic... (IJ is being a bear for me today, slow to load and not connecting... I hope this goes through OK...) Introduction to Hikaru no Go for Harry/Draco lovers! I got into this anime because I kept seeing it mentioned on my flist as HD-esque. I initially dove into it almost 2 years ago, and this fic has been brewing in my head ever since... I'll start posting it tonight. The best intro is for you to just either watch the series or read the manga (which is being translated officially into English, but there are scanlations available for download of the entire thing), since this fic will be very spoiler-laden. Very. There is an "Elite Fansubs" version out there for download of the anime, if you want to watch it, and it's on Youtube, of course. Email me if you need more direct pointers! The entire series is 75 episodes of anime, and the manga is 23 volumes. I recommend watching in Japanese with English subtitles. The voice actor for Akira is sublime. (I think she's female. Such an expressive voice--Touya Akira's angst really comes through.) However, if you'd like to jump into the fic with just the basics and not spend hours/days/weeks catching up first, here we go. Soooo..... theoretically speaking.... if I were to write a really extremely raunchy and yet sweet Shindou/Touya smut fic... would anyone be interested in reading it? For those not familiar with the anime/manga Hikaru no Go, Shindou/Touya is very Harry/Draco-esque. Shindou is the rough-and-tumble athlete who doesn't know the Go world but enters into it when he's 11 years old (he accidentally summons a ghost of a 1000 year old Go player), while Touya is a "pureblood" Go player, the 11 year old son of Touya Meijin (possibly the best player in the world and very traditional). Touya craves his father's approval and is always striving to be the best, is considered something of a snob by others, always dresses up, is sort of emotionally naive with a streak of angst... and is inexplicably drawn to be obsessed with Shindou. Shindou meanwhile is impulsive, hotheaded, doesn't watch what he says, and is just as obsessed with Touya. At the point where the manga ends, they are turning 16 and have finally become friends after much trial and tribulation (and playing on the same team together versus China and Korea in Go). My fic would take place perhaps a year later... I'd be happy to give a little intro to it so that those who have never read the series or watched the anime could probably still enjoy it quite thoroughly...? (12 Comments |Comment on this)
